DO NOT READ BELOW THIS IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO READ HARRY POTTER SPOILERS
Scroll down
Ok, so we all know how Harry Potter went, right? We know that basilisk venom is the only thing that can destroy a Horcrux. If so, then why didn't it kill Harry when he was a Horcrux in the 2nd book? He stabbed the basilisk with the sword of Gryffindor even though one of its fangs got him in the arm. Would it have killed him and the horcrux if Fawkes hadn't healed him? This has recently crossed my mind and I would be delighted to find an answer..

Same about spoilers >.>
No, the reason the horcrux was destroyed when Voldemort kill Harry was because he originally split his soul into Harry, making him the only one capable of destroying the horcrux. iirc, this was revealed in Snape's memory in the last movie. The Basilisk would've just killed Harry and Voldemort's spirit would've latched onto something else, or roam around like in the end of the first movie =P
Now you know

Just stopping by figured I would throw my two cents in here.
Well, Basilisk Venom isn't the only thing that can destroy a horcrux, see the cursed fire spell in the same movie that destroys the diadem and the Sword of Gryffindor, but if the Basilisk would've killed Harry in second movie it would've destroyed the horcrux because they don't bounce around like that, they just get destroyed, and Voldemort unintentionally made Harry, so he really wouldn't have known, a horcrux when he unsuccessfully attempted to kill him. That's why the whole section of the movie where he's talking to Dumbledore in what looks like King's Cross Station the thing under the bench was the piece of Voldemort's soul in Harry that had been killed by Voldemort not knowing he practically killed himself. But in retrospect if the idiot would've just killed the stupid phoenix, Fawkes, and the Basilisk would've just killed Harry we wouldn't be talking about this because Tom Riddle would've taken Ginny Weasley's life energy and Lord Voldemort would be very much alive.

Yeah, I really dont consider the movies at all when wondering HP related stuff.
The only things I consider cannon would be the books.
