Welcome to Siwrc’s mini GWD/Bandos guide.
The aim of this guide is to help players in getting ready for the GWD and General Graardor, as I intend to be dragging people there kicking and screaming if I have to in the near future!!
The tactic I intend to use is the standard tank + damagers tactic, I will tank as I have max def and hp, all you will need to do is hit things really hard :-)
Requirements
Troll stronghold quest
60 str or Agi (to get to GWD)
2 Ropes (if its your first time)
1 Hammer (only required for Bandos section)
70 str (to enter bandos area)
If you are missing any of these then you will not be able to get to General Graardor, as you can see this is very easy to achieve and most players will have these already.
Statistical Requirements
70+ att, str and def
Or
80+ range and 70+ def
and
39+ pray (although I would advise 60+)
These stats are preferable, certainly 39 pray is very important as you will require protect from range, since 90% of the damage you will take will be range based.
Equipment Requirements
Here I am going to explain what equipment you require and how to limit the loss if you do happen to die.
Firstly you will require 4 items to protect you from the followers of the 4 gods, I will list my favorite items to use:
Zamorak Arrow - I don’t use range so its an easy choice and at 600gp is cheap
Armadyl stole – Good pray bonus and a lot cheaper than fury to lose at about 200k
Ring of Devotion – Take a clay ring to father Aereck to be blessed to be protected from sara
Bandos boots – since there’s not much difference between these and dragon boots
The worst and almost cheapest way possible set up would include:
Monk robe bottom – 383gp
Zamorak robe top – 1212gp
Ancient mace – 1000gp
Armadyl pendant – Temple of Ikov quest reward
With your gear its totally up to you on what you wear, but certainly on your first few visits I would recommend protecting your self from all 4 gods until you are used to where every thing is.This is because it’s a multi combat zone, and it's very easy to go to the wrong place and get swapped by 7-8 monsters, therefore wasting food you will need for the General.
A good way I have found to set up is pick out what gear you want remembering to ensure good att, str, and pray bonuses (or range if your ranging) and ok-ish range defense. Most of the time you will realize that you have some of the gods covered already, as you will be looking for big offensive stat things like godswords(which are great, as they give you protection from one of the gods and hit like trains). God-trimmed/blessed armor/d’hide works as well,(basically any thing that turns you in to a animal in castle wars will protect you). Sara or Zammy arrows are a easy one if you are meleeing. If you are rich or lucky enough to have a piece of Torva, Pernix or Virtus armor it will protect you from all 4 gods.
I could go on all day about this section, so if you have any questions please contact me in game and I will do my best to help you.
Your Inventory
This section is quite easy as the all the items are readily available from the GE.
1 x Hammer (If you forget this, you can kill imps for it, as they have it as a fairly common drop)
3 x Super Att potions
3 x Super Str potions
6-8 Pray potions
1 x teleport tablet
2 x ropes if it’s your first trip
And the rest of your inventory is food (minimum sharks)
What to expect inside the GWD
When you first enter the GWD there will be lots of monsters every where fighting one another, none of these will be aggressive as long as you're wearing the items from the 4 different gods. From here you will want to move to the north-west towards the Bandos area, where you will have to kill 40 Bandos followers in order to gain access to the generals chamber. The Bandos followers are:
Goblin – lvl 12-17
Hobgoblin – lvl 41-47
Orge – lvl 58
Jorge – lvl 58
Cyclops – lvl 81
Ork – lvl 107
Spiritual warrior – lvl 115
Spiritiual mage – lvl 121
Spiritual ranger – lvl 134
The main thing here is not to rush as you do not want to waste food on killing these 40 followers, since if you leave the GWD to bank you will have your kill count reset,( in a nutshell, if you see a goblin, kill it) another tip is if you see a Cyclops or ork fighting another monster from another god go and attack him for 3-4 hits and then attack some thing else and when that monster dies you will get the kill count for it. The main thing is don’t try to be first one done, since you will just have to wait for the rest of the group any way.
Once every one has got their 40 kills of Bandos followers we will make our way to General Graardor’s room and wait by the entrance.
But first a bit on General Graardor himself:
Race – Ourg
Level – 624
Attack style – melee / ranged
Bodyguards – Sergeant Strongstack (melee damage), Sergeant Steelwill (Magic damage) and Sergeant Grimspike (Ranged damage)
Max melee hit – 700
Max range hit – 350 (hits every one in the room)
As you can see he hits hard and has some friends, this is how I intend the fight to go, best laid plans and every thing :-)
• Tank enters room with protect melee and piety turned on
• Moves General Graardor and Sergeant Strongstack to center of room
• Kill team enters room with Protect range on and pots up
• Tank eats like mad and kill team kills like mad till General Graardor dies
• Every one protects from mage and kills Sergeant Steelwill
• Every one protects from range and kills Sergeant Grimspike
• Every one protects from melee and kills Sergeant Strongstack
• Collect loot and move to northwest corner, tank will stay in center of room waiting for next spawn.
• Rinse and repeat, easy as that :-)
Points to note:
• Do not use a aggressive familiar as General Graardor will attack the owner of it instead of the tank.
• General Graardor is immune to poison but the Sergeants aren’t
• It is unconfirmed whether Bandos Godsword special works (the stat reduce side that is, the 10% damage does)
• Be prepared to give the tank some food if staying for multiple kills
• Do not kill the Sergeants before Graardor is dead, as they will instantly respawn
• A predetermined safe word will be told to you by the tank before you enter, if you see the tank say this it means he is going to die and will tele out in about 10 to 15 seconds, make sure you keep an eye out for this.
Dang, this turned into a wall of text before I realized, I will add things as I remember them or as people point them out, if you have any concerns, queries, or questions about the GWD please feel free to post here or contact me in game.
