When people think of the dinosaurs called raptors they usually think of Velociraptor. This mindset is actually incorrect because the term raptor is scientifically used for either dromeosaurs in general or birds of prey. Dromaeosauridae is every dinosaur that would be called raptors. The Dromaeosauridae subfamilies include Dromaeosaurinae, Microraptorinae, Saurornitholestinae, Unenlagiinae, and Velociraptorinae. All Dromaeosaurs have one common trait and one possible common trait. The common trait is the sickle claw on each foot and the possible common trait are feathers.
The most famous member of this Dromaeosaur subfamily is Velociraptor. Velociraptor is well known from movies such as Jurassic Park in which this dinosaur is inaccurately depicted as being six feet tall. There are two subspecies of Velociraptor, V. Mongoliensis, and V. Osmolskae. This dinosaur could grow up to 2.07 m (6.8 ft) and 0.5 m (1.6 ft) tall. Quite literally Velociraptor can be called a chicken on steroids. There is extensive evidence that Velociraptor hunted Protoceratops and this evidence is supported by the famous fossils of a Velociraptor and a Protoceratops locked in mortal combat.
Tsaagan was a dromaeosaur that lived in the late Cretaceous. Like its cousin Velociraptor it was found in mongolia. This dromeosaur was found in the same area Velociraptor was found in. Tsaagan Magnus means White Monster.
Linheraptor is another relative of Velociraptor that was discovered in 2010 so there is not much information about it yet.
Deinonychus can basically be called a Friggin American Velociraptor on steroids.
Adasaurus is a Dromaeosaur that still does not have much information about it.
Balaur was described as a beefy version of Velociraptor and was about the same size as Velociraptor. any description of Velociraptor can basically be used to describe this Dromaeosaur.
