I would argue the opposite, Having a higher strength level would actually improve overall performance of both the speed of leveling when moving towards att and def.

Personal opinions about 99's aside. I always picked the sweet spot formula of keeping my str exact 5 levels above my att and def, which I leveled together. I find being able to hit higher makes leveling the att and def later on quite a bit faster then it would be doing the whole lot controlled.

Though the abby whip + second hand str bonus item provides a higher hit in general.

The loss as a result of not being to hit higher, sooner, takes that away.

im not sure if im allowed to post but this is how i had my stats:

70 attack
70 strength
70 Defence

ok so i trained strength to 80 and then trained attack to 75 and defense to 75 as well.
after that i got strength to 85 and trained on attack and defense to 80. so i basically trained strength by increments of 10 (except for 80 to 85) and attack and defense in increments of 5. this is how i manage to get faster xp (like Zigorkhan said) and going to soul wars also made my training exp triple. as you can see now im not finished with my melee but i plan to get 99 in all 3 melee combat styles.

uhhh a better place if you want more drops is to check out moss giants, in freeplay you have them in the sewer or on crandor and in members you have them on the island near brimhaven
they are always fun

Aye, Mossies are always fun. I Recommend Crandor, it is mostly empty whenever I go there.
