There is no REAL formula( at least to my knowledge)... you just train the combat skills and once yo get enough levels gained you earn one combat lvl

yeah but theres a formula to every thing otherwise we cant do any thing I.E damage dealt= STR level + attack + enemies defense level I.E damage taken= your defense level + enemies STR + enemies ATT level I.E log in = username + password (11/24/10 accounts created after that must use email to log in) so your combat level has something to do with; summoning/ prayer/ attack/ strength/ range/ defense/ magic/ hitpoints so that means combat level = summoning + prayer + attack + strength + range + defense + magic + HP but level ones cant count towards it. I.E CL= 1A + 25STR + 99D + 1M + 1SUM + 99P + 99H +1R (A=0, M=0, SUM=0, R=0) if we simplify it comes down to this CL=25STR+99D+99P+99H then if simplyfied again it comes down to this CL=70 after checking it i wuz wrong and right becuz level ones dont count but the actual thing is 1/4(13/10(att+ str)+def+con+1/2 prayer this is melee Range combat level formula=same as melee but put 2/3range instead of att and def magic=same as range but subsitute 2/3range for 2/3magic NOTE round your prayer to the nearest even number this is F2P combat levels beyond this point is P2P -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- P2P combat levels!!!!!!!!!! ok so p2p combat levels are the same thing but they have + 1/2 of your closest even summoning level

strength= damage dealt attack=likeliness of connecting that hit defense=likeliness of not getting hit
and there is no formula to lvl faster. your combat lvl only relies on you lvling one/ several skills up that are combat related. thats the formula there is not "attack, prayer, ranged blah blah blah"

im not saying joes formula is right, because i havnt really looked at it in detail, but the general idea is right. Its based on a combination of melee's +pray and sum, or mage +those or range +those dependent on whichever results in the highest combat level.
In some cases u will reach a certain combat level faster training one skill than another because strength and Hp more have more of an affect than attack and def do, for example if u were 99 str and 1 everything else your combat level would more than likely be higher than if u were 99def and 1 everything else

I don't know about mage and range based but if you are a melee based character it is basically: each prayer or summoning level is .125 each although odds don't count so it is basically .25 level every 2. (IE getting 99 prayer doesn't matter about getting max, 98 and 99 are the same) Defense and hitpoints add .25 per level and every level counts. Attack and strength are .375 a level. So every 8 prayer/summoning, 4 defense/hits, or 8/3 attack/strength levels will equal you getting exactly one combat level. I know this is how it works and I am almost 100% sure the numbers are right unless anything has been changed recently.
For example my levels are: attack: 81*.325=26.325 strength: 81*.325=26.325 defense: 81*.25=20.25 hitpoints: 81*.25=20.25 prayer: (65-1)*.125=8 summoning: (71-1)*.125=8.75 Total: 109.9 and my p2p level is 109, 109.9-8.75=101.15 and my f2p level is 101.

while all of this is true i think joe's original question was how to level up more quickly ( hence asking for a formula to level up) and if im right thats why im saying there is no sequence of levels you should take to get from lvl 1 to lvl 30 in one day.

i wasnt asking that i was asking what the formula is for combat levels not how to level combat levels faster becuase you just go train defense or constitution
and theres rangers and mages that have a high combat levels and i tried it on my guy and i got combat level 25 which is my combat level
and then you have to subtract 2 combat levels to get the TRUE combat level becuase you start at combat level 3

ah ok i thought the question was just mistyped. my bad.
and for those high level mages/rangers they trained their melee first. no other way could they be lvl 9 without training attack, strength and defense

nah you dont have to subtract two, you just start out at three cause you have lvl 1 in everything. plus that, combat level is always deceptive, a real test of someones combat skill is the individual levels that make up the combat level.
