Hey Guys I'm Angel, Lvl 63 mage I'm not on much, but when i am i'm usually figuring out ways to lvl up and enjoy the game. If anyone is having trouble lvl'ng the following skills, I'd be glad to share my knowledge using an understanding of your abilities to make your experience worth while in the game.
Angel can help with: Melee, Range, and Magic Also other skills such as Rune crafting, smithing, and possibly others
If you need any help let me know. Helping out is my way of enjoying the game i seem to have done everything else not much else to do lol

Well depending on what you wanna do, you have two options the slow track and the fast track.
The slow track requires the use of body runes. if you decide to use this, you can lvl your magic quickly while also maintaining a low combat lvl. from experience it enables you to lvl all your other stats while at the same time decreasing the time to raise your combat. for this though you should use body runes up to at least 40 since its fast but expensive unless you craft runes and have a staff. this makes you pretty powerful if done correctly.
If you wanna level fast, u can use combat runes. you don't get as much experience with most combat spells compared to body spells though so it depends on what you wanna do.
in conclusion I personally think starting slow is a great path because it gives you the opportunity to explore the world finding places that are good for using really helpful spells. its kinda hard to give examples because they are far from areas where you can fight melee, but i can definitely show. i like to take my time but also make the most of the experience.
these are the two ways i know to train magic from beginner to advance, both can be used but when is usually important question. i recommend changing from body to combat at lvl 40.

A good place to train mage is casting confuse on the mage of zamorak at varrock castle, as he can't attack you. Requires 3 mage and lots of runes

Back in the day we would always buy or fletch yew longbows and high alch them. More of a member thing now, though. For free users there is alching steel platebodies that I see sometimes. Teleporting is easy but expensive. And also mining iron ore + superheat spell, to make iron bars 100% at the cost of a nature rune. There is also that mage training arena which I used at higher levels, and you get rewards eventually. In terms of combat, the only one I ever used was magic dart at barrows or at dagannoth kings.

The mage is behind a gate, as it is in jail I assume they don't allow it to have runes lol.
